Meet Jake

Jake is our founder and Director here at SIPS. His professional career began in Cornwall many moons ago where hospitality is very much woven into the fabric of the landscape. Over the last 12 years Jake has established himself in the industry by orchestrating an array of new openings, skyrocketing existing brands, developing the next generation of restauranteurs and even had a few restaurants of his own. In his own words, here’s what encapsulates his vision for the future of the hospitality and catering industry;

“I’m Jake, the founder and director here at SIPS. I have been in hospitality my whole working life (bar a very interesting stint as a business seminar lead) *gulp*

After the glory days of washing dishes at 15 years old, surrounded by a group of passionate misfits, I remember feeling like a part of something.

I instantly fell in love with the industry and the people who grace it. The transient mix of seasonal staff who come and go, the owners and their coffee orders, the chefs and all their “kitchen wisdom” and the hundreds of thousands of customers I’d have the chance to meet, from all over the world.

The end goal for me was always my own venue. I didn’t see past that, that had to be the goal didn’t it? Through a lot of perseverance I finally achieved that at 30 years of age, having learned a lot about how to (and really how not to) run a successful hospitality outfit. After a few years in ownership, and a few more venues, it became clear to me that ownership was now not the end goal, but a platform for me to be able to see the industry from the very top. At the start of 2024 my thoughts were redirected to how could I best place myself in the world to make some wholesale changes. Some changes that wouldn’t just affect me, but some positive changes that could potentially allow other people to not only survive in hospitality, but to far exceed their expectations too.

What if NOBODY had to work 7 days a week to make ends meet? What if EVERYBODY got their rotas 6 weeks in advance? What if NOBODY had a zero hour contract with minimum wage? What if EVERYBODY had the access to training and development to help them improve, both personally and professionally? What if, it wasn’t about just me anymore. There’s a real opportunity to change the landscape of the industry completely and I want to do that. With the help of a select group of us, who want to stand with you in making your business a success.
